Middle Age Beauty Blog

I blog about the middle-aged body, soul, and mind. I also review the best products for middle-age skin. Here’s where you’ll find all my skincare reviews alongside blogs about wider topics such as hair care, mid-life psychology, and keeping fit and healthy.

Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Review

Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Review

This Clarins Lip Comfort Oil has a texture more akin to lip gloss than oil; it provides initial hydration but fails to maintain it. While it’s not overly sticky, I’m hesitant to recommend it, given the hefty £25 price tag.

Facetheory muslin cloths

Facetheory muslin cloths

I have around 15 of these cloths and have bought extras for my teens as they love them too. We use them to wash our face in the mornings and evenings, and also to take make-up cleanser off (we use cleansing balms).

Laneige lip mask dupe

Laneige lip mask dupe

I’ve been using this lip balm (or sleeping mask) from w7 that’s a really good dupe for the Laneige lip sleeping mask. I’ve been using it for a few months now, so I feel I can give it a fair and just review. It’s vegan & cruelty-free.

Eyelid tape review for hooded eyes

Eyelid tape review for hooded eyes

Who needs to talk about hooded eyelid tape? If you’re in the know, you’ll have seen these nifty little stickers for hooded eyes that help to lift your lids and show more of your eyelid area – great for mature lid droop too!

Absolute Collagen

Absolute Collagen

Absolute Collagen was not a brand I’d come across before 2020 but with some users of the brand reporting visible improvements to their skin and hair/scalp condition, I wanted to see what it could do for me.

Body Shop British Rose Face Mask

Body Shop British Rose Face Mask

The marketing spiel about this face mask promises to quench your skin and give a youthful, dewy glow after use. I’ve mainly used this when having a bath so the results may have been skewed with my plumped pink face from the heat.

Facetheory Exaglow Serum Review

Facetheory Exaglow Serum Review

I’ve been using Facetheory’s Exaglow Serum S10 science it first came out in September 2020, so I can give it a fair and honest review. I use it before I apply my amil-c whip cream, and Regina C retinol Moisturiser.

Moroccanoil hair care reviews

Moroccanoil hair care reviews

I get asked a lot what MoroccanoiI products I use on my hair (both my own hair and my LA weave) so I thought I’d do a round-up of what my favourites are at the moment, where to get them, and price info.

Christmas competition

Christmas competition

Middle age beauty Christmas 2020 competition! We all need a bit of a pick-me-up after the 2020 we’ve had! So, I’m running a middle age beauty Christmas competition to WIN five of my favourite skincare products…

Working from home tips

Working from home tips

I’m always being asked how I manage to work from home without a) murdering anyone, and b) becoming a recluse. To be fair, I’m a bit of a hermit anyway, although I’m sure my friends would disagree!

Facetheory review moisturiser Regina C

Facetheory review moisturiser Regina C

I’ve been using Facetheory’s regena m4 moisturiser for about 8 months now, so I feel I can give it a fair and honest review. I use it after I’ve applied the amil-c whip cream, which is also from Facetheory.

Milk & Blush Hair Extensions Review

Milk & Blush Hair Extensions Review

During the great COVID-19 lockdown of 2020, I obviously couldn’t see my hair technician to re-sew in my LA weave so I plumped for a set of Milk & Blush hair clip-ins to tide me over.

Fanola Hair Mask – NutriCare Mask

Fanola Hair Mask – NutriCare Mask

Fanola does a hair mask, you say? Like me, you may have thought that Fanola isn’t known for anything outside of its no-yellow shampoo (turns yellow hair platinum – I have a review for that product coming soon).

Weleda Skin Food Review

Weleda Skin Food Review

Weleda Skin Food first captured my eye when I saw it on a particular ITV daytime show and it’s now a staple in my middle-aged skin bag of tricks. I will warn you that the cream is very thick! But it’s so lovely it can be forgiven for that.

Facetheory Amil C Whip Review

Facetheory Amil C Whip Review

It should come as no surprise that I LOVE this moisturising cream. I just feel like it’s completely different to everything else I’ve tried and I feel so much better about using natural ingredients and it has a gorgeous texture that glides over the skin.

Middle Age Yoga Routines

Middle Age Yoga Routines

I use YouTube to find and organise yoga routines as I can use it to practice anywhere using the YouTube app; on the TV, on my mobile phone, etc. I’ve organised my favourite yoga routines into playlists.

Benecos Natural Nail Polish Remover

Benecos Natural Nail Polish Remover

I was in the market to change my regular nail polish remover for an eco-friendlier alternative. I found Benecos natural nail polish remover, it’s acetone free and enriched with natural lemon and orange peel oil.

Facetheory reviews – skincare

Facetheory reviews – skincare

Facetheory Reviews are coming! I’ve been planning some Facetheory reviews for a while now and have around six anti-aging skincare products that I’ll be reviewing soon after trying them for the last year or so.

Yoga – how it helped me to heal

Yoga – how it helped me to heal

I’m in no way a fitness fanatic. I survived my 20s and 30s on cheese and crisps alone and went to the gym for the first time aged 37 (and subsequently quit a few months later). However, I’m now a yoga convert; promise not to preach.

Lotil original body cream review

Lotil original body cream review

After drying off from the shower, I applied the cream to my arms and legs first to see how well it would sink in. I had a bit of a panic when it didn’t absorb straight away as it looked a bit like I had smeared Sudocrem all over me.

Comedogenic, what does it mean?

Comedogenic, what does it mean?

When a skincare product is described as comedogenic, it means that one or more of its ingredients could clog our pores. It comes from the word ‘comedome’, which is a type of non-inflammatory acne (such as whiteheads).

Weleda Skin Food Light Review

Weleda Skin Food Light Review

I bought this yummy face cream following the fab experience I had with its big sister, Weleda Skin Food. While the original formula is great for quenching dehydrated skin, some days I need something lighter that I can quickly chuck on.

Peeling Black Mask Review

Peeling Black Mask Review

There’s a ton of different black peeling mask brands for sale and I’ve tried quite a few – they all seem to do the same job and perform equally as well. I’ve included lots of results photos in this review along with a TMI photo of a peel.
