Weleda Skin Food Light Review

This is my unbiased Weleda Skin Food Light review. I bought this product from my own pocket and was not asked to review it by the brand or anyone else. I hope you find it useful!

I bought this yummy face cream following the fab experience I had with its big sister, Weleda Skin Food. While the original formula is great for quenching tired and dehydrated skin, some days my face needs something a little lighter that I can quickly chuck on and head out the door.

Weleda say the cream ‘brings immediate comfort to dry skin’ and I have to agree – as soon as I put it on, my face feels moisturised and has a little bit of a glow to boot. It’s packed with natural goodness like Beeswax and Calendula and I really love the smell!

What the brand says

“Skin Food Light brings immediate comfort to dry skin. A light, quickly-absorbed lotion, it combines organic sunflower oil with skin-calming extracts of pansy, chamomile and calendula. The ideal companion when you are on the go, soaking in quickly and leaving skin smooth, silky and ready for anything.”

Cost & Packaging

The green tube of cream comes in a cardboard box in a green tube with minimal branding and has a flip-top lid which is really easy to open.

When you squeeze the tube to get the product out, it doesn’t cause any dents in the bottle, and the product comes out easily.

You only get 30ml of the product inside the tube (compared to 75ml with the original formula) and it costs around £12.50 at the time I wrote this review (check today’s price on Amazon).

Application

The light version of this cream is quite creamy but nowhere near as thick as the original Weleda Skin Food. This means that it goes on easily and you can rub it in straight after applying. I usually dot some around my eyes, forehead, nose, cheeks and chin then gently massage in.

Absorption

The cream absorbs quite quickly but on a particularly hot day, or if you have other products on your face, it can take a little longer to sink in. I find that it’s all soaked in after about 4-5 minutes.

Results

I really like the way it gives a soft glow to my face as well as smoothing the little wrinkles around my eyes.

When it comes to long-term results, I’ve been using it for around 3 months and apart from the glow, I haven’t noticed any other effects apart from my skin being moisturised and soft. I use it every day along with a couple of other staple serums (see my other reviews for which I use) and find it to be a brilliant low-cost moisturiser.

How did Weleda Skin Food Light do?

  • Price 88% 88%
  • Ease of use 90% 90%
  • Fragrance 75% 75%
  • Skin plumping 75% 75%
  • Moisturising properties 65% 65%

While this cream isn’t as plumping or moisturising as it’s original counterpart, I do like to use it when I need to run out the door as it soaks in much quicker. If you’re looking for something with more oomph, see my Weleda Skin Food review.
